Efficient Playa Travel
Learning Goal: I can choose an efficient route within Open Playa.
Intro
The clear view when in Open Playa makes planning efficient routes fairly easy. However, dust and night can remove that advantage, so here are some tips for when those moments arise.
Traveling to Outer / Deep Playa
When traveling from the city to a specific location in Outer or Deep Playa, if you are not confident in your ability to successfully navigate directly to the location (such as during dust storms coming in and out), use Temple as your anchor point. Determine what radial of Temple your target location is on and then go to Temple first, rather than attempting a long trip from Esplanade.

Traveling to Inner Playa
When traveling from the city to a location in Inner Playa, the Radial roads can be used as an anchor point. When traveling from Outer Playa, Temple or the Man can act as major anchor points and the promenades will help you keep track of where 3/6/9/12 are. Especially during dust storms, following promenades and using the Man or Temple can keep you on your planned course.
Traveling to the City
When moving to the City from Inner Playa, remember that the promenades show where the 3/6/9/12 radials are. At night the 6 o'clock promenade has 4 lanterns, while all others have only 2.
If during a heavy dust storm you are unsure of where to move, follow the promenades until you hit Esplanade, and go from there. Attempting to travel through Quadrant 1 or 4 means you could wander off into Outer Playa, so follow promenades when unsure.
If an emergency requires you to get through Open Playa during a dust storm, the iBurn app has been reported to function well enough to reach specific locations and get back to the city. We can't promise it will always work, but it is currently a workable last resort. Do not use the app as a replacement for skill, as phones and apps don't always work.
Test Yourself
You are placed on a map in Open Playa, south of Temple with no help for direction. A harder version of Wayfind 2, as you must track direction yourself and you start outside of the city. Use the arrow keys to navigate.
